How it works
The address comes straight from the connection: our site sits behind Cloudflare, which passes your real IP in the CF-Connecting-IP header — exactly what other websites see. With a VPN or proxy on, you will see its address instead of yours, which makes this page a quick VPN check. If your network has IPv6, browsers usually prefer it, so you may get an IPv6 address rather than IPv4. The provider and city come from a local copy of an IP geolocation database; the city is approximate, and on mobile networks it is often the operator's regional hub. Nothing is sent to third parties, and we do not log these lookups.

Why doesn't the city match where I am?
IP geolocation is approximate. Providers route whole address blocks through regional hubs, so the database often shows the hub's city. The country and provider are usually right.
How do I hide my IP address?
