Each release is supported ~13 months, so a long-lived server means upgrading roughly yearly — for set-and-forget, Debian or Rocky is calmer. It's also heavier than Alpine for a single small service. Great for development, less ideal for a box you never want to touch.

Fedora or Ubuntu?
Fedora ships newer packages and is closer to upstream; Ubuntu has more third-party guides and longer LTS. Developers who want current tools tend to prefer Fedora.
How long is a release supported?
About 13 months. Plan to upgrade roughly once a year, or pick Rocky 9 for a 10-year lifecycle.
Is it stable enough for a server?
Yes — it's not rolling; releases are tested. Just newer than the enterprise distros, which is the point.
Full root and SELinux?
Full root from first boot; SELinux is enforcing by default, which most stacks handle transparently.
