Who openSUSE Leap is for
SUSE shops
If your team knows SUSE Linux Enterprise, Leap is the free, source-compatible sibling.
YaST admins
A powerful configuration tool that many find friendlier than editing files by hand.
Stable & predictable
Enterprise-derived packages and a measured release cadence — quiet, dependable servers.
First commands after boot
openSUSE uses zypper — a fast, capable package manager with excellent dependency handling. YaST is available if you prefer a guided UI.
# update the systemzypper refresh && zypper update -y# install a package with zypperzypper install -y nginxWhen openSUSE Leap isn't the answer
It's a smaller ecosystem than Ubuntu/Debian, so some third-party install scripts won't mention it explicitly. Leap is stable, not cutting-edge (that's Tumbleweed, which we don't offer). For the widest tutorial coverage, Ubuntu is easier; for containers, Alpine is lighter.
Same on every EQVPS box
- ▸Full root from the first second — no locked-down panel image.
- ▸No KYC. Sign up with an email, that's it.
- ▸Pay in crypto (USDC/USDT on Base, Ethereum, Polygon, Solana) or by card.
- ▸Your root password is revealed to you once, in the dashboard — we don't email it.
openSUSE Leap VPS — FAQ
What's the difference from SUSE Enterprise?
Leap is built from the same sources as SUSE Linux Enterprise but is free and community-supported — enterprise stability without the subscription.
Do I need to use YaST?
No — it's optional. You can administer everything from the shell with zypper and config files; YaST is there if you want a guided tool.
Leap or Tumbleweed?
We offer Leap (stable, fixed releases). Tumbleweed is the rolling variant and isn't in our catalog — pick Arch if you want rolling.
Full root and fast deploy?
Yes — clean cloud-init image, full root, live in about a minute, password shown once in the dashboard.
